Chesapeake Beach has a median annual household income of $102,552, and most of the residents of Chesapeake Beach own their own homes (83.7%) as opposed to renting (16.3%). Although the town is small, it offers myriad activities even beyond the sailing, fishing, kayaking, swimming, and seafood dining one would expect from its beautiful location on Fishing Creek and the Chesapeake Bay. Dog Bite Injuries in Chesapeake Beach

Pit Bull Attacks Chesapeake Beach Woman and Dog

On a November afternoon in Maryland, a woman and her dog were walking near the intersection of Cox Road and Moffat Run in Chesapeake Beach. Suddenly, a loose dog ran toward them and attacked them in the street.

The loose dog, a grey female pit bull, emerged from a nearby property and began sniffing the woman’s dog. Both dogs sniffed for a moment, and then the pit bull attacked the woman’s dog with several fast-paced bites to the head, neck, and shoulder.

In an attempt to break the dogs apart, the woman moved toward the pit bull and was bitten on her right hand and right calf. Animal Control received a call about the attack via 911 and arrived at the scene shortly thereafter.

A girl and man arrived at the scene and said the pit bull’s owner lived nearby. Later, the pit bull’s owner told an Animal Control officer that she had instructed someone to take her dog from her house to her fenced back yard, but someone must have opened the fence to let the pit bull run loose. She also said that perhaps the pit bull was aggressive because it had recently had puppies and was feeling protective.

The bitten woman received medical care, as did her dog. The pit bull’s owner said she planned to get veterinary care for her dog but had not yet done so. Animal Control requested that the pit bull’s owner be served with dangerous animal designation papers and quarantined the animal for 10 days due to the attack and a lack of rabies vaccination history.

What would you do after a traumatic dog attack like this? You can hold the attacking dog’s owner accountable and get your medical bills paid with the help of an experienced Baltimore dog bite lawyer

Will My Case Go to Court?

It’s hard to say whether your case will go to court or not. It is always important to have an experienced Maryland lawyer on your side to get the compensation you deserve.

For a personal injury case, sometimes there is no need to go to court for a civil matter because a talented lawyer can help you negotiate a settlement that is accepted by both sides. In this situation, nobody goes to court, yet everyone carefully creates an agreement that resolves the situation. While a lot of civil cases settle, the insurance companies keep offering less and less on cases.

Due to this, it is important to have a lawyer representing you who is familiar with trying cases in front of a judge or jury. Many lawyers claim to handle personal injury or car accident cases but have never seen the inside of a courtroom. Before hiring a lawyer, make sure you know that they are experienced in litigation. Also, the insurance companies will sometimes offer more money to law firms that go to court because the insurance company knows that the lawyer isn’t just looking for a quick settlement for the client.

For a workers’ compensation case: These cases often involve an appearance in front of a workers’ compensation commissioner. Make sure your lawyer has experience with workers’ compensation claims like yours.

Please contact us for an initial consultation about your case, and we will help you understand your options and the potential outcomes involved.
