A tragic accident on Route 50 in Anne Arundel County early Wednesday morning has led to the death of a Crownsville resident. The victim, identified as Andrew David Frye, 34, was found deceased at the scene after a collision involving his 2000 Yamaha motorcycle.
The incident took place around 4:20 a.m. near Rowe Boulevard on the eastbound side of the highway. Preliminary reports suggest that Frye’s motorcycle was struck by a 2019 Ford Fiesta, driven by 59-year-old Horatio Fitzgerald Easton of Annapolis, during a lane change. Easton, who was the only person in the vehicle, sustained injuries and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center for treatment.
Officials have stated that impairment does not appear to have contributed to the crash. The accident caused a significant disruption, leading to the closure of all eastbound lanes on Route 50 for several hours. Assistance with road closures was provided by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, and emergency services from Anne Arundel County responded promptly to the scene.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
