Eleven Kids and One Adult Injured in Harford County Bus Crash

A chaotic scene played out on Monday morning around 8:30 am in Bel Air, Maryland, as a bus and Honda Accord collided, injuring eleven children and an adult. Emergency responders rushed to the area of Emmorton Road and Bel Air South Parkway to assist victims and assess the damage. Police have reported that 10 children from the minibus were taken to a nearby hospital and the driver of the Honda along with a 1-year-old passenger were transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. 

The accident occurred on MD 924 when the southbound Honda attempted to turn left without yielding to the right of way. This caused the northbound bus to collide with the car’s passenger side.

This accident has left many questions unanswered, particularly when it comes to the condition of those injured. According to a representative from the University of Maryland Medical System, six minors were treated at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for small injuries. While most have already been discharged, it’s unclear how serious the injuries were. As for Johns Hopkins Medicine, it’s unknown whether or not they were treating individuals injured in the crash. Harford County school system spokesperson Jillian Lader declined to clarify whether or not the bus was carrying students from their system. For now, no roads have been closed for the investigation, leaving many to wonder what happened and how those involved are truly doing.
