Toyota Prius Collides with Chevrolet S10 in Fredrick County Resulting in Death

On Friday night, a two-vehicle accident in Frederick County claimed the life of 89-year-old Donald Frederick Reineke. Maryland State Police responded to the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Route 40 and Harmony Road, at around 9:30 p.m. According to witnesses, Reineke was attempting to cross Route 40 in a Toyota Prius when he collided with a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck that was travelling through the intersection. Reineke was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the pickup truck, 40-year-old John Michael Hartman Jr., was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries. The road was closed for three hours while police investigated the accident.
