A black Honda CR-V Car Collides with Several Cars Resulting in Death

Baltimore authorities are investigating a crash that killed a 17-year-old driver in northwest Baltimore. The black Honda CR-V crashed at the intersection of Grantley Road and Liberty Heights Avenue, reducing several vehicles to mangled heaps of twisted metal. The CR-V’s teenage driver died from his injuries. Mary, a witness who asked only to be identified by her first name, told 11 News the crash was so horrific she immediately began to pray. “I was just hoping nobody else was seriously hurt,” she said. “The vehicle looked like an accordion.”

Authorities have yet to explain why officers were interested in the vehicle. The Attorney General’s office is handling a case in which a 17-year-old was killed after a car accident. The accident occurred when the teen’s car collided with two other vehicles, and one of those vehicles then struck a fourth. The teen suffered the worst injuries and was taken to the hospital, but later died. Witnesses said that it took the ambulance a long time to arrive, and they were concerned that the teen would not survive. This case is still under investigation.

According to officials, the officer was driving a marked Baltimore police car that did not have a dashboard camera. However, body-worn camera video is available to investigators.

City police had no comment Monday on the investigation and referred questions to the attorney general’s office. State officials plan to release on Tuesday the name of the 17-year-old who died.
