Car Accident Victim Died at Emmorton Road and Philadelphia Road

On Thursday afternoon, a man was killed in a three-car crash in Harford County. The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m., and it took place in the area of Emmorton Road (MD 24) and Philadelphia Road (MD 7) in Abingdon. According to police, a semi-truck was travelling north on Emmorton Road when a 2013 Chrysler 300 and a 2017 Jeep Compass began heading south on the same road. According to investigators, 66-year-old Thomas Thompkins failed to stop at a red light, proceeding through the intersection onto Philadelphia Road. The resulting collision claimed the life of one man and caused significant damage to all three vehicles involved. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of this tragic accident, and they have urged any witnesses to come forward with information that might help to shed light on what happened that day.

The impact of the semi-truck on the left side of the Chrysler caused a chain reaction that resulted in a serious collision. The driver of the Jeep swerved to avoid crashing into the truck, but was unable to avoid colliding with the rear right quarter panel of the Chrysler. This impact caused the Chrysler to veer off of the road and come to a rest in some nearby brush. The driver of the Chrysler, Raul Alejandro Smith, tragically died as a result of his injuries. At this time, no charges have been filed against any of the drivers involved in this incident.
