Bicycle Accident Victim, Enzo Marcel Alvarenga, Collides with Cargo Van Resulting in Death

Just after 4 p.m. on Monday, police and rescue personnel were called to the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Cheshire Drive in Montgomery County, Maryland, after receiving reports that a cyclist had been hit by a car. Upon arrival, they found that 18-year-old Enzo Marcel Alvarenga had been riding a Trek bicycle south on the northbound sidewalk on Old Georgetown Rd. when he collided with a white 2012 Ford F-250 cargo van. Alvarenga was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, but police believe that Alvarenga may have left the sidewalk just before the collision for reasons that are still unknown.
