Subaru Impreza Hit a Bicyclist in a Bicycle Accident Resulting in Death
Incident Information
On the afternoon of March 24, 2024, around 2:54 p.m., a serious motor vehicle collision occurred at the junction of Maryland Route 5 (Mattawoman-Beantown Road) and Pinefield Road, prompting a response from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack.
To investigate, Collision Reconstruction Specialist (CRS), TFC. M. Posch from the MSP Leonardtown Barrack, took charge of the situation.
Initial findings revealed that Brian Christopher Webb, aged 33 from Bladensburg, MD, was riding a bicycle southbound on Maryland Route 5 within the left turn lane for Pinefield Road. At the same time, Amaya Reed, a 21-year-old resident of Lexington Park, MD, was driving a Subaru Impreza northbound on Maryland Route 5.
Regrettably, Mr. Webb failed to adhere to the red traffic signal and crossed into the path of the Subaru, resulting in a collision and Mr. Webb being ejected from his bike.
Despite immediate efforts, Mr. Webb succumbed to his injuries after being airlifted to MEDSTAR/Washington Hospital Center.
